Letting Life Happen-Making Life Happen

Body language we all use it. Intentional or unintentional.

Yesterday while teaching in jail one of the participants who was new, just sat there with arms folded and a stern look on her face.  Her body language was: I cannot believe I came to this class, this is stupid and I am better than this.

I continued to speak and handed out papers. I wanted them to fill out an “ILP- Individualized Life Plan”.  This guided them to make decisions as to where they wanted to be in 90 days, 6 months, 2 years and 5 years.  As I was asking the questions the ladies were writing their answers and everyone would answer except for this particular lady whose “body language” was closed off.

We finished the 90 day page and I asked a question:  Based on your past life experineces, how are you going to get there?  So I went to the board and showed them this:  An Event has happened which created an opinion about yourself, which then created an expectation (good or bad) which was then followed by an action.  This cycle is called “letting life happen”.

So this cycle continues until you see yourself worthy enough to make the change.  Or until you let someone into your life that will hold you accountable to make the changes that you wish to see. For most people they are so far in the cycle of “letting life happen” that they can’t even start to imagine a different life. The bondage of life is so bad, but it’s all they know so it’s comfortable- plus they don’t want to hear the “I told you it wouldn’t work” by someone in their past that still has a hold on them, this could be a parent, relative or a past significant other that they have a child with.

Now back to the “ILP”.  I showed them by flipping the cycle just 180° they will now enter a cycle of “Making Life Happen”

So back to my lady in class:  Her body language has now totally changed and you can see that the wheels are turning. And I ask her “so what do you think?”  She says, “Since July I have been wondering why I can’t get a court date until next month and why I am sitting back in that cell…. But now I know; I was locked up so I could see this.  I have been floundering for the past 2 years and knew that it was about to end nowhere good, but I could not stop it”.

She went on to say that she was caught up in the “I’ll never be good enough or good as” thought process.

I looked at her and said “Don’t let Satan use your thoughts that you will never be good as or good enough to be forgiven.  When God forgives he forgets; Satan just uses our low self esteem and low self confidence to keep us in the bondage of worthlessness, and that we aren’t worthy to be someone of importance.”

So what is it that God is asking you to change in your life but you are so used to “letting life happen” that you don’t see yourself worthy of attaining:

  • Finishing High School
  • College education
  • Teaching a Sunday School Class
  • Starting a Business
  • Being a good parent
  • Being a good spouse

God Never Ceases To Amaze Me

Dear All:

God never ceases to amaze me… most of you know that earlier this year thanks to a wonderful volunteer submitting our names that Rob and I get to go to Florida and Disney… well what you may not know is that just 30 days earlier I had told a group that I was teaching that I did not know how I was going to do it but I would go to Florida and Disney this year because I had never been and really wanted to go… and then all of a sudden we win a trip and I get to go… well the same thing kind of thing happened this week but not really…

I heard on the radio an ad for a trip to Israel and come join us its a trip of a life time…(you probably have heard the commercial I am talking about.. it is a trip every year with a group and its a fun tour) Well I remember just this past week saying to God…why would I want to go on a trip to Israel to look at the sites…when I walk right here with you…yeah you might see where this is going…

The 180 Program Curriculum

Well today…I was talking to a Pastors wife about their involvement in the city with AtG, then we got to talking about a trip she had taken to Nazareth last year and I asked if she was ready to move yet and she stated no but we are going back…and jokingly I said by the way I now have a passport and the 180 curriculum is printed and will travel… then she said you know….a girl just backed out and my contact has been talking to me about the women… she says pray about it and let me know…

I left her a short while later and called Rob… his immediate response was you are going right… (well after he said how mad he was because he knew he could not go).

As I start to process this I start laughing because not a week ago I told God I was not going to Israel to go on a trip to see all these things…so Never tell God what you are NOT going to do…is the moral of that story.

I have never been out of the country except to Mexico and those were fun trips. I have never been on a Mission trip except for the daily one that I live every day with the moms and children that we serve here. So with that I am very excited to see what God has planned in this very non Christian country as the 180 curriculum is very Christian.

I would leave with the group on August 20th and return on August 28th I would train/teach on August 23rd (evening) 24th (afternoon) 25th and 26th (all day)

So as you can imagine I am very excited and humbled to be asked to go and do this over in another country and of all countries… Jesus’s Nazareth.

So if you would pray for me and my family as we start this journey.

I need to raise $3000 if you would like to make a donation you can make checks payable to AtG and in the memo 180 Nazareth. You can mail them to:

PO Box 809 Franklin TN 37065
Also AtG has a paypal donate now button on the website if you would like to donate on line (www.atghope.org)

I really feel called to do this and am trusting God that He will raise the monies for me to go. If you can’t give I understand but I would covet your prayers as I know how mad Satan gets here in America when the women we work with start walking right with God…

Thanks for loving me well.

The 180 Program is Making a Difference

FRANKLIN, Tenn. — Seven years ago, a couple in Franklin decided to give up their six-figure salaries and the rat race. Meredith and Rob Kendall decided to make a difference in their own lives by making a difference in others’.

A group of single moms have made a decision to improve their lives and learn life skills to help them succeed, after meeting Meredith Kendall.”Most of them come to us because they’re at their wit’s end. They want something different. They’re tired of living in a cycle of being called worthless or being called lazy or just taking welfare. They’re wanting that different thing,” said Kendall. “But unfortunately, their family never knew anything different.” – Read more about the 180 program on WSMV’s Website
